Giinagay! (Gumbaynggirr for ‘Hello!’)

We’re honoured to launch this meaningful collaboration with two of Australia’s most beloved Gumbaynggirr artists.

Melissa Greenwood and Lauren Jarrett are founders of the Indigenous Australian arts label Miimi & Jiinda. They are a mother and daughter duo of the Gumbaynggirr mob, located on the beautiful south east coast of Australia.

Since our inception, Unreal Fur has stood to celebrate the artistic voices of all people and cultures. Naturally, we are thrilled to be incorporating Miimi & Jiinda’s artwork in a capsule of our designs.

FUNDRAISING FOR THE FIRST BILINGUAL ABORIGINAL LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN NEW SOUTH WALES

GUMBAYNGGIRR GIINGANA FREEDOM SCHOOL

Gumbaynggirr Giingana Freedom School (GGFS) is the first bilingual Aboriginal language school in the Australian state of New South Wales. Students at GGFS have the opportunity to learn on country from their elders. Education here is an intergenerational transfer of cultural knowledge and tradition.

A portion of each sale from the Miimi & Jiinda x Unreal Fur collaboration will raise funds for the construction of a new classroom on the GGFS campus.
